Using Oratex’s fabrics WILL reduce your carbon footprin
The vast majority of electricity produced in Canada, and especially in Quebec, comes from renewable sources. This source of energy has an enviable positive carbon balance for all Canadian manufacturing industries and the population in general. Quebec’s manufacturing companies can, at any time, take advantage of this natural and clean resource to manufacture a variety of items with a considerably smaller carbon footprint. Therefore, the local and national textile industry must work together to meet the expectations of our governments and customers to reduce GHGs. This national awareness can only lift the textile industry and help the country in its fight for a better future.
To do it’s part Oratex is committed to achiving Carbon Zero by 2040 for it’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 Emmissions, and Carbon Netural for it’s upstream and downstream Scope 3 emmissions by 2045.
Phase 1: Phase out gas-consuming equipment and replace it with equipment that uses exclusively electrical energy.
Phase 2 will be used to install energy-efficient equipment and reduce the material/water ratio and processing times.
All of these actions will benefit Oratex as they highlight the company’s innovative spirit in the textile industry, its ownership and contribution to reducing its carbon footprint while helping governments, business partners and retailers achieve their goals and certainly creating quality workplaces for its staff.
